About This Session

There has never been a more critical time to come together to rebuild educational/youth development delivery in order to truly serve every student. Join us to learn strategies for your program to foster empathy and an inclusive youth development environment. Learn dialogue and coping techniques that work and help meet diversity, equity and inclusion program goals, process tension and sustain morale.

Lonias Gilmore

Childhood Obesity Prevention Specialist

Lonias Gilmore is a Senior Public Health Consultant at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, a member of the Michigan Breastfeeding Network Board of Directors and a proud member of the Michigan After School Partnership (MASP). For more than 10 years, she has led policy, systems, and environmental change and built partnerships to improve health and education outcomes and to advance health and racial equity. Lonias believes we can eliminate the power in race, ethnicity, home language, zip code and socioeconomic status to predict health and well-being. She received her MPH from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a bachelor’s from Langston University, Oklahoma’s only Historically Black University.
