About This Session

Join the Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality in an interactive session on trauma informed care in out-of-school time settings. Gain an understanding of how young people experience trauma and the impact trauma has on young people. Explore how the Weikart Center's Pyramid for Program Quality has a direct connection to creating a trauma informed setting.

Presenter Information

Alandra Chuney

Master of Social Work

The David P. Weikart Center For Youth Program Quality

Alandra is a clinically licensed social worker with a certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She is passionate about providing quality youth development services to youth that also have a positive impact on their mental health. Her passion for youth development programming stems from her heavy involvement in afterschool programming as a child.

 

Prior to joining the Weikart Center’s team Alandra served as the Director of Student Support for the Midnight Golf Program. Alandra received her B.A. in Psychology from Michigan State University and her Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University.

Trevor J. Davies is a senior manager with the Forum for Youth Investment’s David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality. His work includes providing thought leadership, consultation, coaching, and training services to the Weikart Center’s clients as they seek to empower education and human service leaders to adapt, implement, and scale quality improvement systems to advance child and youth development. Davies’s current role focuses on supporting federally funded 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs, state departments of education, local school districts, and community based agencies providing youth development programming. Davies was selected as a Afterschool Ambassador with the Afterschool Alliance in 2019 and remains engaged in policy efforts at the local, state, and federal levels. He has a master’s degree in communication and bachelor’s degree in recreation, both from Western Michigan University.
